Pastorate Letter March 26

Dear friends,
Did you ever play that party game True and false? Bats are blind- true or false? Koalas are bears –
true or false?
It’s good when the lines are clear and you can tell what is true and what is false, but when the lines
get blurred it can make the world a confusing place for many of us. It can sometimes be very difficult
to work out what’s true and what’s not.
Our news channels and social media can be full of content that offers opinion, spin and fake news.
The advent of AI can make that even more difficult with images being put together which are
completely misleading. Even TV programmes like ‘the Traitors’ while entertaining, are also
encouraging people to lie and the best liar wins the prize!
Have you ever wondered where is truth, where is integrity – don’t they exist anymore?
Thank goodness there is one who doesn’t just speak the truth and live it, but he is the truth- the
way, the truth and the life’. What he says – we can count on, what he does- we can believe in.
A solid foundation that never fails.
We are now in the season of Lent – a time to follow in the footsteps of Jesus- walking away from the
world with all its fake news and lies, and walking towards the one who is the truth.
So now, in this season of Lent let’s draw closer to Jesus, the one who is all truth- let’s
spend time with his word the bible, let’s talk to him in prayer, and let’s live out his way of love and
service…
May you have a blessed Lent
Your friend and minister,
Cath
